What is classified as mild severity ulcerative colitis ( UC )?
<4 stools/day, only a small amount of blood
What is moderate severity UC?
4-6 stools/day, varying amounts of blood, no systemic upset
What characterises severe UC?
> 6 bloody stools/day + features of systemic upset ( pyrexia, tachycardia, anaemia, raised inflammatory markers )
Persistent biliary colic symptoms
Associated with anorexia, jaundice and weight loss.
Palpable mass in the RUQ ( Courvoisier sign )
Periumbilical lymphadenopathy ( Sister Mary Joseph nodes ) and left supraclavicular adenopathy ( Virchow node )
Cholangiocarcinoma
Infection of the bile ducts commonly secondary to gallstones.
Triad of fever + RUQ pain + jaundice
Ascending cholangitis
Large-joint arthritis + sacroilitis + pyoderma gangrenosum
