Describe the key features of Crohn’s disease (endoscopic appearance, distribution, histology)

Endoscopic appearance:
- Skip lesions/cobblestone appearance
Distribution
- Can affect any part of GI tract from mouth to anus, most commonly affects terminal ileum
Histology:
- Transmural inflammation
- Goblet cells increased
- Granulomas

Describe the key features of Ulcerative Colitis (endoscopic appearance, distribution, histology)
A
Endoscopic appearance:
- Continuous/uniform inflammation with thin walls and loss of vascular pattern
Distribution:
- Rectum always affected
- Only affects large bowel
Histology:
- Submucosal inflammation only
- Depletion of goblet cells
- Crypt abscesses
