Indications

A
  • Eval of: nausea, vomiting, weight loss, bloating, chronic aspiration
  • Assess mechanical, anatomical obstruction of stomach
  • Suspected gastroparesis
  • GERD
  • Dumping syndrome

Contraindications

A
  • Allergic to eggs
  • Hypoglycemic patients – can have OJ 2 hours prior

  • NPO 4-12 hours
  • No smoking while NPO
  • Must eat entire meal w/i 10 min
  • Vomiting at any time invalidates
