Atrophy of stomach muscle (Caused by resection or H.pylori infection)

Pathology?
A
An adenocarcinoma in the mucous secreting cells of the gastric pits. Most commonly caused by mutation of the tumour supressing p53 gene

Endoscopy and Biopsy CT Scan (Staging)

>55 Dysphagia GI Blood Loss Vomiting Weight Loss Upper Abdominal Mass Anaemia

Treatment
A
Surgery - Improves survival and symptoms: Resection of the stomach Total Gastrectomy for proximal lesions Partial Gastrectomy of distal lesions Chemotherapy Radiotherapy

A
5 Year survival is 10-15%
