Q

What is Boyle’s Law?

A

For a fixed mass of gas the product of volume and pressure are always the same providing the temp is constant.
(if pressure increases, the volume decreases).

Q

What is the conversion of kPa to mmHg?

A

1kPa= 7.5mmHg
1mmHg= 0.133kPa
For example, 760mmHg= 760x0.133= 101.1kPa

Q

What is Henry’s Law?

A

States that the number of molecules dissolving in liquid is directly proportional to the partial pressure at the surface of a gas.

Q

What is the influence of water vapour pressure?

A

PH2O= 6.3kPa
Partial pressure of moist inspired O2= 20.9% x (barometric pressure- saturated water vapour pressure at 37 degrees.
Eg. PIO2= 0.209 x (101- 6.3) = 19.8kPa
