Gait Flashcards
Human ambulation
Biped
Step Length
the distance from right foot to right foot.
Stride length
step x 2
What’s longer swing or stance?
Stance is longer because it keeps the bodies balance
What holds ankle dorsiflexion to prevent foot slap
tibialis anterior, extensors of toes
decelerates the lower leg through the ankle during weight acceptance.
gastroc soleus, tibialis posteior, toe flexors
pulls hip into extension raising body onto single leg stance
Gluteus, and TFL
stabilizes the hip to maintain a level pelvis (close chain hip abduction)
Hip abductors, extensors, & plantar flexors
Stabilizes the anterior and posterior trunk for balance and maintain proper center of gravity alignment through the stance leg
Knee Flexors, dorsiflexors, hamstrings muscles = eccentrically control knee extension
initiates swing phase
Hip Flexion - illiacus, psoas, rectus femoris, gracilis, & sartourius.
stabilizes knee on weight acceptance
FIND OUT
Trendelenburg Gait pattern
Superior Gluteal Nerve
femoral nerve is paralyzed what strategy would a patient use to prevent falling?
lock knees
patient has head trauma and damage in inner ear
Wider base of support and Ataxic gait pattern
Hip flexion is what phase of gait
swing
