A
- mimics neurotransmitter GABA, but does not bind to GABA receptors and it does not appear to influence uptake of GABA
- involves it’s inhibition of alpha 2-delta subunit of voltage gated calcium channels

- CNS & respiratory depression
- hypersensitivity reactions
- neuropsychiatric effects
- suicidal ideation

Gabapentin dosing
A
AUD: 300 mg QD THEN can target 600 mg TID
NEUROPATHIC PAIN: IMMEDIATE- 100-300mg 1-3 times daily ; target to 300-1200 Mg TID
Extended- 300 Mg ; target 900-3600 mg QD
