Fungi Flashcards
Are fungi heterotrophs or autotrophs?
They’re heterotrophs.
How do fungi reproduce?
Sexually and asexually.
What is fungi cell wall made of?
Chitin
How are fungi different from plants?
Fungi cell was is made of chiting, but plants’ is from cellulose. Fungi are heterotrophs, but plants are autotrophs.
What are the components of fungi?
Mycelium, Hypha, Fruiting body, Cap, Gills, and Stalks (fungi stem).
How do fungi reproduce asexually?
By budding (yeast) or by mycelium separation.
How do fungi reproduce sexually?
By merging different hypha together and creating a zygospore.
What are 4 ways fungi get their nutrients?
Parasitism, Predatory, Symbiosis, Decomposition (saprobrial).
What is Cordyceps fungi?
It’s a parasitic fungi that takes over animals.
What is the difference between composite organism and a symbiotic fungi?
Composite organism (Lychin) is where fungi gives photosynthetic organism a shelter in exchange to sugar, but symbiotic relationship is when fungus helps plants grow bigger roots for more nutrient reach in exchange to plants sugar. Both are mutualistic.
