Multiple painless swellings, hair is easily detached, studded with pustules
DD of kerion
Acute pyogenic abscess
In kerion : no LN++, no affection if general condition, incised drainage is I.C
Leison of favus
Think yellow adherent cup shaped crust (sulfur cups or scutula)
Complete healing in all types of T. Capitis except
Favus (scarring alopecia with coconut hairs)
Wood’s light of microsporum canis
Green fluroscence
T. Violaceum by wood’s light
Doesn’t fluoresce
TTT of T. Capitis
Griesofulvin : 12.5 mg/kg/d ( tablet 125 mg )
Duration : 6-8 wk
S.E if griseofulvin
Drug induced SLE, GIT upset, headache, photosensitivity
C.l in pregnancy, hepatic faliure or photosensitivity
