WHy do we have so many muscles in our hands?
A
- No muscle attatchments
- Intercalated segment - movement diactated by muscles acting distally
- Hand can conform to shape the task required
- Protected from abnormal movements by strong ligaments
- Scaphoid sisceptoble to avascular necrosis because of the retrograde blood supply (blood goes distal to proximal)
