WHy do we have so many muscles in our hands?

A
  • No muscle attatchments
  • Intercalated segment - movement diactated by muscles acting distally
  • Hand can conform to shape the task required
  • Protected from abnormal movements by strong ligaments
  • Scaphoid sisceptoble to avascular necrosis because of the retrograde blood supply (blood goes distal to proximal)
