Hypothalamus
stimulates and controls the release of hormone from the pituitary gland
receives info about basic functions to then help basic functions
pituitary gland - master gland
controls several other hormone glands including the thyroid and adrenals, ovaries and testicles
thyroid gland
responsible for regulating metabolism
adrenal gland
made of 2 distinct parts
- outer part adrenal Cortex stimulates production of glucose for energy
- inner region adrenal medulla provides key hormones in flight or fight response adrenaline and noradrenaline
pancreas
produces insulin and substances that help digest food
ovaires
oestrogen
controls the regulation of the female menstrual cycle
testicles
testosterone
male reproductive glands
responsible for development of male characteristics
