Fuel Flashcards
What is the fuel capacity?
- Main Tank 1 or 2 8,600 lbs
- Center Tank 28,800 lbs
- Total 46,000 lbs
Where is fuel temperature sensed?
No. 1 Main Tank
What is indicated by the center pump LOW PRESSURE Lights?
Center FUEL PUMP Switch ON and pump output pressure is low
Will illumination of a single light illuminate the M/C and FUEL System Annunciator Lights?
Yes, with CTR FUEL PUMP switches on, continuous illumination of one LOW PRESSURE light for 10 seconds will trigger M/C + FUEL
What is indicated by the main tank pump LOW PRESSURE Lights?
Main tank FUEL PUMP Switch OFF or pump output pressure is low
Will illumination of a single light illuminate the M/C and FUEL system annunciator lights?
No, it illuminates only on M/C Recall. If both lights in the same tank illuminate, they will cause the M/C and FUEL System Annunciator Lights to illuminate.
What triggers the the LOW fuel alert?
Quantity
What triggers the the IMBAL fuel alert?
Main tanks differ by > 1000 lbs
What triggers the the CONFIG fuel alert?
Engine(s) running and center quantity >1600 lbs and both center pumps OFF
Do the fuel alert indications (LOW, IMBAL, and CONFIG) illuminate the M/C or FUEL System Annunciator Lights?
No
When does the center tank scavenge pump operate?
When No. 1 Main Tank quantity approximately 1⁄2 full and No. 1 FWD Pump Switch ON, scavenge pump operates automatically for remainder of flight to transfer any remaining fuel in center tank to No. 1 Main Tank
When does the center tank scavenge pump operate?
When No. 1 Main Tank quantity approximately 1⁄2 full and No. 1 FWD Pump Switch ON, scavenge pump operates automatically for remainder of flight to transfer any remaining fuel in center tank to No. 1 Main Tank
What are the tank fuel temperature limits?
- Minimum prior to takeoff and inflight: -43°C, or 3°C above the fuel freezing point temperature limit
- Maximum: +49°C
If center tank quantity is more than 1000 lbs, what limitation must be observed?
Main Tanks 1 and 2 must be full
What is the maximum random fuel imbalance between main tanks 1 and 2?
1,000 lbs.
Is ballast fuel authorized?
No
What other limitations must be observed regarding center tank pumps?
Intentional running of a center tank fuel pump (LOW PRESSURE Light illuminated) is prohibited
If center tank quantity is less than 1000 lbs on the ground, what caution should be observed?
Center tank pump switches should be OFF
What other cautions must be observed regarding center tank pumps?
- Must be OFF when LOW PRESSURE Light illuminates and/or center tank empty
- Must be OFF when no one in cockpit to monitor LOW PRESSURE Lights
What is the minimum tank quantity to defuel or transfer fuel with passengers on board?
2000 lbs in tank being drained
What is the minimum tank quantity to defuel or transfer fuel with passengers on board?
2000 lbs in tank being drained
What is the minimum tank quantity for operation of electric hydraulic pumps?
- System A 1675 lbs in Main Tank No. 1
* System B 1675 lbs in Main Tank No. 2
What is indicated by an illuminated FILTER BYPASS Light?
Impending fuel filter bypass due to a contaminated filter
