Fire Protection Flashcards
What are the indications for a FAULT/INOP test?
- 2 M/C Lights + OVHT/DET System Annunciator Light
- FAULT Light
- APU DET INOP Light
What are the indications for an OVHT/FIRE test?
- 2 M/C Lights + OVHT/DET
- 2 ENG OVERHEAT Lights
- 2 FIRE WARN Lights + Fire Warning Bell
- 3 Fire Switches
- WHEEL WELL Light (if AC power available)
- APU Fire Light + Fire Warning Horn in wheel well (if on ground)
What are the indications for a Cargo Fire test?
- 2 FIRE WARN Lights + Fire Warning Bell
- 2 Cargo Fire Warning Lights (FWD & AFT)
- 2 Extinguisher Test Lights (green)
- Cargo fire bottle DISCH Light
How many fire bottles are installed?
- Engines 2
- APU 1
- Cargo 2
How many fire bottles are installed?
- Engines 2
- APU 1
- Cargo 2
How many detector loops are installed?
- Engines 4 (2 each engine)
- APU 1
- Cargo 4 (2 each compartment)
- Wheel Well 1
What is indicated by a FAULT Light on the Overheat/Fire Protection panel?
A dual loop failure (if OVHT DET Switch in NORMAL)
What is indicated by a FAULT Light on the Overheat/Fire Protection panel?
A dual loop failure (if OVHT DET Switch in NORMAL)
What is indicated by failure of a Fire Switch and an ENG OVERHEAT Light to illuminate during OVHT/FIRE preflight test?
A single loop failure
What is indicated by a DETECTOR FAULT Light on the Cargo Fire panel?
Dual loop failure (except during test). If light illuminates during Cargo Fire test, it indicates that one or more detectors in the loop have failed.
If a single engine fire loop fails in flight, what happens?
Loop is automatically deselected, and remaining loop functions as a single loop (no indication in cockpit that this has occurred)
If a single engine fire loop fails in flight, what happens?
Loop is automatically deselected, and remaining loop functions as a single loop (no indication in cockpit that this has occurred)
What happens when an Engine Fire Switch is pulled?
• Closes 4 valves
‣ Engine Fuel Shutoff Valve
‣ Spar Fuel Shutoff Valve
‣ Engine Bleed Air Valve
‣ Hydraulic Fluid Shutoff Valve
(+ deactivates engine-driven hydraulic pump LOW PRESSURE Light)
• Trips generator control relay and breaker
• Arms one squib on each engine fire bottle + allows Fire Switch to rotate
• Thrust Reverser disabled

What happens when the APU Fire Switch is pulled?
• Closes 2 valves + 1 door
‣ APU Fuel Shutoff Valve (& deactivates fuel solenoid)
