Q

What does the vent system do?

A

Provides a positive pressure on the fuel in the tanks when the aircraft is pitching and rolling

Each wing tank incorporates a vent surge tank on the end of the wing, with a NACA inlet which provides atmospheric pressure and prevents accumulation of ice

Q

How are the tanks refuelled?

A

Single point refuelling system

Can gravity refuel the aircraft

Refuelling control panel located in the right main landing gear fairing

Can be refuelled in approx 16 minutes

Max pressure for fuelling is 50 psi

Two refuel valves (solenoid controlled) located downstream of the refuel connector control the flow of fuel to each wing tank

Q

What will close the refuel valves?

A

The FQI when the quantity reaches 2500 kg

Level sensors in case of a failure, sensor is submerged when the fuel tank is full

Q

What pumps feed the fuel?

A

Electric pump only used for starting

Once engine is operating the engine fuel feed supplied by the associated jet pump and the electric pump shuts down

Q

Where does the fuel flow?

A

1) through a check valves and out to the low pressure fuel valve
2) through a check valve to a jet transfer pump - pulls fuel from the main tank to refill the feeder tank

12
Q

What happens if the jet pump output drops below 5 psi?

A

Associated electric pump starts automatically

If it drops below 4 psi illumination if FEED LO PR light

When pressure increases above 8.5 psi the pump will stop 30 seconds later

16
Q

How does the FQI system work?

A

Two channels, one for each tank

Independent of each other

The probes are electrically connected to the associated flight deck FQI

17
Q

How can be fuel be measured in the case of an FQI failure?

A

On the ground only using the two magnetic level indicators per tank

Accessed through the bottom of the wing tank

18
Q

What does the green RUN light mean?

A

The electric pump is activated

19
Q

What is the FQI powered by?

A

The DC ESS bus

If the batteries are off, it is powered by the ground handling bus when the refuel door is opened

20
Q

What is the fuel temp indicator powered by?

A

DS Bus 1

21
Q

How is the fuel used indication reset?

A

By pulling the associated fuel used reset knob
