- Standards ensure officers conduct themselves in a manner that upholds the integrity and reputation of the force.
- Every officer who falls below those standards dents public trust and confidence in the police.
- Standards create uniformity in procedures
- Make us more efficient
- Established standards makes officers adhere to the law
Public
- Clear standards provide a basis in which the public can hold us to account
- Officers adhering to standards provides consistent and ethical policing which builds trust within our communities and makes it more likely that that citizens will cooperate with the police

- People need guidance and want guidance
- Policies and procedures set standards and guide officers to what is required of them
- Standards benchmark high personal conduct that they can be expected to be held accountable against
