Review
Monitor budget spends with regular contact with our admin department to get our monthly spends.
Constantly review spends in terms of meals/clothing/blankets/forensic equipment
Look for patterns and changes in spending
Eliminate overlapping resources
If there is ordering for no reason, locate order emails and find out who is placing the orders, speak with them and find out why order has gone in.
Create culture of responsible ordering and spending. Stock taking first.
Same with overtime,
Check the same officers/teams aren’t incurring overtime regularly and if so find out why.
Drill down into the detail of where the over spends are and monitor.
I check in with our admin team regularly to see what our spending has been for the month so that I can predict any over/under spend and keep within budget.
