A
1866 - 1868 A war between the Sioux tribe and the US government which resulted in a major success for the Sioux which was an embarrassment for the US government.

A
The 2nd Fort Laramie Treaty.

What were the terms of the 2nd Fort Laramie Treaty?
A
- Sioux would move to the Great Sioux Reservation which included the Black Hills.
- Government agreed to close the Bozeman Trail and army forts on Indian territory.

What were the terms of the FLT?
A
- Allowed them to keep sacred land.
- The government had increased control over Indians as they’d been moved to the Great Sioux reservation in Dakota.

Why did the 2nd FLT lead to conflict?
A
- Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse refused to agree with the treaty.
- Whites were angered that they couldn’t go onto Indian land.

How did the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868 lead to the Great Sioux war?
A
Because the whites were angry they were prohibited to go onto Indian land and look for gold in the Black hills. However, General Custer broke the Treaty by searching for gold in the BH in 1876.
