- disarmament
- helping countries talk about their disputes rather than fight
- collective security - if one country attacked another league members would act together to control the aggressor

helped solve economic and social problems
- disease, slavery, and poor working and living conditions

A
- met once a year to discuss memberships of the league and how to maintain world peace
- decisions had to be unanimous and every country had one vote

- had permanent members and temporary members
- dealt with international affairs and aimed to settle disputes
-all members had a vote but permanent members got to veto anything
