What is foreign policy?
A government’s strategy in dealing with other nations.
What are Domestic affairs?
Domestic activities, events, and situations that happen within a country.
What are foreign affairs?
Foreign activities, events, and situations that happen out of a country.
What is Isolationism?
Remaining apart from the policies, affairs, and interests of other countries.
What is an ambassador?
A person sent by a country that works as a diplomat to represent the country.
What is diplomatic immunity?
Provides ambassadors or diplomats with protection from criminal or civil prosecution in the country that they’re currently visiting.
What is a passport?
A government document that certifies a person’s citizenship and allows them to travel under that country’s protection.
What is a visa?
A statement on a passport allows a person to enter, leave, or stay in another country for a period of time.
What are allies?
A combined and united group of countries that have all agreed to an alliance.
What is a diplomat?
A person representing a country abroad.
What is diplomacy?
The profession of managing relationships with other countries abroad.
What are embassies?
A building containing the offices of the ambassadors and staff. A place where officials representing foreign government’s work.
What is the state department’s function?
Negotiates for treaties and agreements with foreign countries and they represent the United States.
What is the secretary of state?
Is in charge of the entire State Department. The Secretary of State is responsible for foreign affairs.
How is the president involved with foreign policy?
President is the “chief diplomat” and commander in chief of the United States. He’s the central figure of foreign policy construction.
