Action:
* Pronation of forearm
* Flexion of forearm at elbow
Innervation:
* Median nerve

Origin:

Insertion:
* Palmar aspects of bases of 2nd and 3rd metacarpal bones
Action:
* Flexion of hand at wrist
* Radial Deviation of hand at wrist

Origin:

* Ulnar head: Proximal 2/3 body of ulna; Olecranon of ulna

* Pisiform bone
* Hook of hamate bone
* Palmar aspect of base of 5th metacarpal bone

* Palmar aponeurosis of hand
* Flexor retinaculum of hand

* Flexion of hand at wrist
* Stabilization of palmar aponeurosis

* Median nerve
Flexor digitorum superficialis IO Innervation
Origin:
* Humeroulnar head: Medial epicondyle of humerus via common flexor tendon; Medial aspect of coronoid process of ulna; Ulnar collateral ligament
- Radial head: Proximal ½ of anterior border of radius
Insertion:
* Palmar aspects of the bodies of middle phalanges of digits #2-5
Innervation:
* Median nerve
Flexor digitorum superficialis Action
- Flexion of hand at wrist
- Flexion of digits #2-5 at MP joints
- Flexion of digits #2-5 at PIP joints
Flexion of PIP joints #2-5 is the primary action of this muscle
Flexor digitorum profundus IO Innervation
Origin:
* Medial aspect of coronoid process of ulna
* Superior ¾ of anterior and medial surfaces of body of ulna
* Interosseus membrane
Insertion:
* Palmar aspects of bases of distal phalanges #2-5
Innervation:
* Medial 1/2: Ulnar nerve
* Lateral 1/2: Anterior interosseus nerve (branch of median nerve)

- Flexion of hand at wrist
- Flexion of digits #2-5 at MP joints
- Flexion of digits #2-5 at IP joints
Flexion of DIP joints #2-5 is the primary action of this muscle
