Foot Flashcards

1
Q

Where is the weight distributed in the foot when standed compared to when walking?

A

Standing: mainly the calcaneus and the heads of the metatarsals

Walking: little calcaneus, 5th tuberosity of metatarsal base, head of 1st metatarsal, big toe

Q

What does the plantar aponeurosis attach to in the foot and what is extremely important of the plantar aponeurosis?

Q

What is plantar fasciitis and what can it lead to?

A

inflammation in the area at the calcaneus, caused but running/ overweight, leads to heel spur/ bony process because calcaneus rubs up again the bursa in the foot, causing bone growth

7
Q

What is so important of the quadratus plantae M?

A

It straightens out the line of pull of the lumbricals, without it, the digits would be pulled laterally

Q

What is hallux valgus and what happens?

A

When the great toe is laterally deviated. can form bunions (tender inflammed bursa), corns, calluses over PIPs (can displace sesamoid bones laterally as well)

Q

What does the tibial N divide into on the soles of the feet?

A

medial and lateral plantar Ns

A

medial 3.5 toes

18
Q

What is innervated by the medial plantar N? (4)
