Sural nerve.

You decide to perform a nerve block at the ankle. What is the surface anatomy of the relevant nerves that supply the sole of the foot?

A

Laterally, between Achilles tendon and lateral malleollus: Sural nerve.
Medially, between medial malleolus and Achilles tendon, just posterior to the tibial artery: Posterior tibial nerve (which gives rise to the medial and lateral plantar nerves)
