Allergies: Peanuts, Milk, Eggs, Fish
Intolerances: Dairy, Grains/Gluten, Beans, Cabbage
Food intolerances definition
A long term condition where a certain foods cause a person to feel unwell and have a range of symptoms.
Symptoms of food intolerances
Constant tiredness and weakness Muscle and join ache and pain Nausea Pain and bloating Diarrhea Eczema and dry skin conditions
Explain Lactose intolerances and how to prevent
Cannot digest lactose
Bacteria that live in the large intestine break it down which cause a large amount of gas to be produced
Prevention: Avoid milk, milk products
Explain Coeliac disease and how to prevent
Intolerant to gluten
Referred to Coeliac
Prevention: Avoid wheat, oats, barley
Food allergy definition
Having food allergy means that someone has an allergic reaction to certain foods of ingredients in food
Reaction can happen within a few seconds up to a few hours after the food is eaten
Can be life-threatening
Symptoms of food allergy?
Skin rashes, itchy eyes and skin, runny nose, wheezing and coughing, swollen lips, breathing difficulties
