food
place food in a beaker with distilled water
stir with glass rod to dissolve food.
get funnel with filtering paper to remove solid food.
Explain process of testing for starch?
5cm3 of solution
get bath with 75 degrees Celsius
mix solution with 10 drops of benedict solution.
add to bath for 5 minutes.
Place tube holder pointing away from you.
present starch- green yellow, brick red.
not present stays blue.
Explain process of testing for starch?
5cm3 solution add few drops of iodine.
shake.
turns blue black starch is present.
Explain how you test for proteins?
2cm3 solution mix with 2cm3 beret solution
shake.
present. pink purple
protein is present.
Explain how you test for lipids?
5cm3 solution (not filtered) mix with 3 drops of Sudan 3 stain solution
shake.
present- lipids will separate because its not soluble
bright red layer on top.
