How do you test for glucose?
A
Add blue benedict’s solution and heat. Observe a colour change from blue to brick red.

How do you test for starch?
A
Add iodine (red) to the solution and observe a colour change from yellow-red to blue-black.

How do you test for fats (lipids)?
A
Add ethanol to the solution (crush the food to make it dissolve first, add water). A cloudy white layer will be seen if a lipid is present.

A
Add biuret to the solution. Observe a colour change from blue to purple.
