Acid hydrolysis
Whats the method + result for the iodine test?
- Add sample to dimple in spotting tile
- Add a few drops of iodine in KI solution
Result: Blue/black colour
What is the method + result for the emulsion test?
- Add ethanol to test tube
- Add sample + shake vigorously to dissolve
- Add cold water
Result: Cloudy emulsion
Whats the method + result for biuret test?
- Add sample solution to test tube
- Add biuret solution
- Observe colour change
Result: Purple/lilac colour
Whats the method + result for the benedicts test?
- Add sample to test tube
- Add benedicts reagent
- Heat in waterbath + observe colour change
Result: Brick red precipitate, green/red colour
Whats the method + result for the acid hydrolysis test?
- Add sample + HCL to test tube
- Boil in waterbath
- Neautralise with NaHCO3 powder (effervescence will occur)
- Check pH with indicator paper
- Carry out benedicts test
Result: Brick red precipitate, green/red
