What is special about B.cereus?
HEAT-STABLE TOXIN —> survives quick frying —> spores also survive —> preformed toxin —> VOMITING (EMETIC type of food poisoning w/ short incubation)
What happens if a large number of B.cereus spores are consumed?
GERMINATION occurs in intestine —> Vegetative cells produce ENTEROTOXIN —> WATERY DIARRHEA (Diarrheic type of food poising w/ long incubation)
Where is Clostruidum perfringes found?
Environment and Animal/Human intestine
What are the different strains of C.perfringes?
Type A —> Common food poisoning (Nausea and Diarrhea)
Type C —> SEVERE type (ENTERITIS NECROTICANS or PIG BEL)
