Explain the difference between food allergy and food intolerance
A
Food intolerance - General term to describe a range of adverse responses to food including allergic reactions, adverse reactions due to enzyme deficiencies and pharmacological reactions.
Allergic reaction - Inappropriate reaction by the body’s immune system to ingestion of food, severe reaction can cause anaphlaxis

What are some common foods that can cause an adverse reaction?
A
Milk, eggs, gluten, nuts, peanuts, eggs and shellfish

What are some symptoms of food allergy?
A
- Anaphylaxis,
- Hives,
- Swelling
- Itching,
- SOB,
- Wheezing
- Abdominal symptoms (bloating, diarrhoea)
