what does MAC stand for?
Monitored anesthesia care
it provides sedation, analgesia, and anxiolytics
the patient is maintaining their own airway
-usually combined with a local
-still a risk of losing airway

provides medication directly to portions of spinal, epidural spaces, nerve groups

general anesthesia
use of volative gases and IV meds

-best for high risk patients and malignant hyperthermia

-the temporary decrease in blood flow to the brain
–> put the patient in Trendelenburg position
