3
Q

ideal flow

A

no friction between adjacent layers (no viscosity)

gases approximate this(don’t always follow)

Q

laminar or streamline flow

A
  • friction between adjacent layers (viscosity)

- flow is fastest at the centre of pipe

Q

turbulent flow

A
  • no orderly adjacent layers
  • as velocity increases, the flow changes from streamlines to turbulent
    eg. cigarette smoke

7
Q

what are the 3 forms of energy of a moving fluid?

A
  1. kinetic energy (due to movement
  2. potential energy (due to its height
  3. pressure energy (due to a pressure difference)

8
Q

Bernoulli principle

A
  • if velocity is reduced, the pressure in that region is increased
  • if velocity is increased –> the pressure in that region is reduced
