Flight Management Flashcards
In dual mode, with both APs engaged, which FMGC is master?
FMGC1
What are the four FMGS modes of operation?
- Dual Mode
- Independent Mode
- Single Mode
- Back up Navigation Mode
In dual mode, with no AP or FD, what is the A/THR controlled by?
FMGC1
What will the scratchpad say in independent mode?
‘Independent operation’
In single mode, what warnings will you get on the ND?
On the ND associated with the failed FMGC:
- MAP NOT AVAIL
- SET OFFSIDE FM CONTROL
- OFFSIDE FM CONTROL
In single mode, what will the scratchpad say?
OPP FMGC IN PROGRESS
How do you get back up navigation mode?
The flight crew will select this when both FMGCs fail
What is MIX IRS?
The average of IRS1 IRS2 and IRS3
What does a magenta circle mean on the ND?
You will honour the constraint
What does an orange circle mean on the ND?
You will not be able to honour the constraint
What does a white circle mean on the ND?
You are in selected mode so the constraint is irrelevant
What does the FMGC provide?
Flight management and Flight guidance
Flight guidance function - autopilot, auto thrust and flight directors
What phase of flight will you be in until reaching cruise alt?
Climb phase
What speed does SRS command in the climb?
V2 + 10 for two engines
In climb mode, what controls the speed of the aircraft?
The pitch
What speed will the aircraft target in an early descent?
1000 ft/min until it intercepts the original path
What is the minimum height after take off to engage the autopilot?
100 ft and at least 5 secs
What two modes does the auto thrust have?
- thrust mode
- speed mach mode
What mode will the AP be in with flight directors off?
Basic mode
What does 1FD1 ECAM mean?
Both sides are using FD1
What is dual mode?
Normal Mode
Each performs their own computations and exchange the data. Whichever AP is selected is the master.
What is independent mode?
It is automatically selected under abnormal conditions. Both work independently and are linked on to their onside peripherals (FMGC1 with MCDU1 etc).
What is single mode?
It is automatically selected when one FMGC fails. One FMGC is linked to both MCDUs and both are synchronised and show the same info.
What is back up navigation mode?
Flight crew select this when both FMGCs fail. The MCDUs go directly to EFIS.
