Flight Instruments, Displays Flashcards
Where is true airspeed displayed
TAS Readout located on TAS/SAT Indicator on the F/O Instrument Panel
Where are the expanded localizer and glideslope indications.
On the primary flight display (PFD)
What is the full scale deflection on the expanded localizer
It indicates deviation of 1/3 dot of course deviation bar from LOC course
What is the CADC NORM position on the CADC selector switch on the aft overhead panel
- Captains MACH/IAS, altimeter and VSI/TCAS indicators receive data from CADC 1
- FOs from CDAC 2
Explain the BOTH ON 2 position of the CADC Selector switch
Captains and FOs MACH/IAS, altimeter and VSI/TCAS indicators receive data from CADC 2
- FOs BARO set knob controls both captains and FOs altimeters
Explain the function of the EFIS selector switch on the aft overhead panel
- Normally positioned to NORM, but may be selected to BOTH ON 1 or 2, as needed in the event of a single generator failure. They select the corresponding symbol generator as the source for both sets of electronic flight instruments
- When BOTH ON 1 or 2 is selected, and Amber EFI 1/2 Will be illuminated on all operable PFDs and NDs
What is the function of the vertical navigation display on the ND
- The right side of the NAVIGATION DISPLAY (ND) mode displays vertical deviation from selected vertical profile in MAP mode ONLY during descent only
- Scale indicates +/- 1000 ft deviation
What’s the function of the FLT RCDR switch on the overhead panel and how long does it record data for
GND TEST
NORM
GRND TEST - (guarded) applies power to recorder. If recorder is operating properly, FLIGHT RECORDER OFF msg will not be displayed
NORM -? The digital flight data recorder (DFDR) is activated by selecting either FUEL lever ON with the parking brake released and normal electrical power.
The DFDR stores the last 25 hours of flight operations
Explain the meaning of the fast/slow indicator on final approach
- Located on the left side of the PFD
- Indicates fast/slow indications reference to autothrottle SPD/MACH Readout (+/-10 kts), FMS generated speed,
VMO/MMO limit,
slat/flap limit or
safe stall margin speed(ALFA speed) - Full deflection either side of center equals approximately 10 kn
- If selected airspeed is less than minimum safe percentage above stall for existing configuration, pointer will be centered once ALFA speed is maintained
- In take off and go around mode, pointer will display airspeed between computed and actual speed’s(V2/V2 +10 or go around speeds KIAS)
- If the auto throttles are engaged they will not allow the aircraft to slow below ALFA SPD
Where and how is radio altitude displayed
- On the right side of the PFD
- The Height Reference Index (tape) is a fixed tape(tape moves) which indicates current altitude above to rain
- 0 - 2500’
Where are the heading select cursor and heading in track indicators
All three are located on the navigation display(ND)
What colors are The colors of the heading select cursor, heading in track indicators
Heading Select cursors - green, which indicates heading set by HDG knob on flight guidance control panel
Heading indicator - white, which indicates current aircraft heading
Track indicator - magenta, which indicates current aircraft track
Where is wind direction and speed displayed
On the lower left portion of the navigation display screen(ND)
On what ND modes can wind direction and speed be seen
ROSE
ARC
MAP
What is the heading orientation if the PLAN Mode is selected on the EFIS control panel
- The plan mode displays a static map background with data oriented to north
- The top part of the ND maintains a display of track and heading information as in MAP mode
