Flight Instruments And Displays Flashcards
How many knots in height is the command speed pointer on the PFD?
5kts
What minimum maneuver capability is provided at the top of the amber bar on the PFD airspeed display
Minimum maneuver speed (1.3Vs)
What occurs at the minimum speed display (red) on the PFD
Stick shaker or low speed buffet occurs (1.1Vs)
When is the Pitch Limit Indication (PLI) displayed
Flaps are out of UP
- pitch attitude that will cause stick shaker
When is the radio altitude displayed on the PFD
When Radio Altitude (RA) is below 2500ft AGL
- Displays and is boxed white for 10 sec passing below 2500
- unless RA mins set: remains white until below minimums set, then turns amber below set min
Where are the marker beacon annunciations displayed?
Top right corner of the ADI (artificial horizon)
OM - Cyan
MM - Amber
IM - White
How do the glide slope and localizer pointers on the PFD indicate excessive glide slope or localizer deviation
The scale turns amber and the pointer flashes to indicate excessive deviation
How do you know when you are 1/3 of a dot deviation form the localizer
Localizer pointer is just touching the rectangle during expanded localizer deviation scale
Where does the altitude you select in the altitude window in the MCP display on the PFD, what color?
Above the altitude tape in magenta (also depicted with pointer on the tape)
Where is current track displayed on the ND
Top center of the ND (TRK)
How can you control displays if the EFIS control panel fails
Line selection on the EFIS CONTROL pages on the CDU
Describe the PLN mode on the ND mode selector
- True North up
- Norm use preflight or wanting to view graphic of entire route
What systems failure would result in the NAV source Selector position to CDU L (captains panel) and CDU R (FO’s panel)
Both FMC’s have failed
- this enters into alternate navigation
- allows CDU to provide route guidance to finish flight in progress
- limited functions
Which source selector switch determines which localizer and glide slope receivers provide information to the respective PFD and ND
EIU source selector
What does EIU mean?
EICAS/EFIS Interface Unit
- 3 L, R, C
- Norm Auto
- selects operable for PFD or ND
Which IRS source provides auto brakes reference
Captains side provides IRU reference for auto brakes
What source selector would you likely move in the event of an ALT or SPD flag in view of the PFD
Air data source selector
How can you control displays if the display select panel fails
CDU EFIS control
The Pitot static system provides pitot and static pressure to which aircraft systems
- 2 ADC’s (air data computers)
- Standby Airspeed indicator
- Standby Altimeter
- Elevator feel computer
Explain the course of air through the pitot static system as it enters the pitot static tubes and ports all the the way through to the displays
- 4 tubes
- upper pitot goes to the associated ADU’s L&R
- upper static goes to Associated ADU and opposite lower static
- aux static goes to opposite lower aux static
- lower L pitot goes to Elevator Feel and Integrated Standby flight display
- Lower R pitot goes to Elevator feel computer
- Elevator Feel Computer has two static ports
- Integrated Standby Flight Display has two alternate static ports
