What does the upper EADI screen display?
Aircraft attitude.
Where does the EADI attain it’s attitude data from?
IRS
What information is displayed on the EADI?
autothrottle, roll, and pitch modes, speeds, VSI, attitude indicator, LOC display, RADALT.
How would you get rid of the decision height display on the EADI?
Put a negative value
at 50ft above the Decision Height, what happens to the DH marker?
Changes from magenta to amber and flashes. The Radio Altitude scale changes colour from white to amber.
If the captain and the FO set different decision heights, which one will set off the ‘minimums minimums’ callout?
Whichever one is higher
to what time does the speed trend arrow indicate?
Anticipated speed in 10 seconds
What colour are typical ‘flags’ on an EADI?
Yellow
What are the 4 modes available for display on the lower EHSI panel?
MAP, ILS, VOR, Plan (Mapil’s VOR Plan)
What mode of operation is the lower EHSI screen typically displayed in?
Map mode
How is the aircraft represented on EHSI map mode?
Apex (tip) or the triangle
What ranges are available on the EHSI map mode?
10, 20, 40, 80, 160, 320 (just doubles every time)
What EHSI display mode will NOT have TCAS traffic?
Plan
What orientation is the EHSI in map mode?
Depends on lattitude, but mostly orientated magnetic north
What orientation is the EHSI in plan mode?
True north
What information is typically not displayed in EHSI plan mode?
Weather information and TCAS.
What orientation is the EHSI in ILS and VOR mode?
Heading up.
What modes display weather radar on the EHSI?
Everything except plan
What are the different colours on a wx radar with turbulence?
Red is hardcore shit, yellow is medium, green is light, and magenta represents region of severe turbulence
What RoC or RoD is required for TCAS to indicate that traffic is climbing or descending?
500ft/min
What range is TCAS provided?
45nm. Any further than this and radio interference may occur
