AFAA Guidelines for stretching:

- Hold each stretch for 15-60 seconds
- Perform 1-4 repetitions or offer a variety of stretches for the same muscle or muscle group.
- Hold stretch to the point of tension/mild discomfort but not pain.
- Static stretches best done at the end of the class.
- Ballistic stretching can elicit the stretch reflex.
