Industrial recovery by putting young men to work. Supervised by army, men would live in camps and work on civil engineering jobs and looking after national parks.
CCC lasted until 1942 and in all 3 million young men took part
125,000 miles of road were built, 46,854 bridges and 3 billion trees planted.

Allocated an initial fund of $500,000,000 to help those in need.
Money went to Home Relief Bureaus and Departments of Welfare for Poor Relief
built five thousand public buildings and seven thousand bridges
employed teachers and over 1,500,000 adults were taught to read and write.

Particularly important was Section 7a which allowed Trade Unions to bargain for better conditions
Created between 1,750,000 and 1,900,000 workers by 1934
Although the NRA issued 557 codes of practice many proved unworkable

$3.3 billion to be spent on things such as roads, dams, hospitals and schools
hoped that this would lead to an increase in the demand for supplies from feeder industries which in turn would create more jobs and lead to more employment
13,000 schools were built along with 50,000 miles of road
But in 1933 only $110 million was spent

As part of FERA, set up as an extension of the PWA for the very harsh winter of 1933-34 to provide more employment
Hugely successful employed around 4 million including 50,000 teacher in order to keep school open
It put $700 million into circulation
But it was ended as Roosevelt was worried about people becoming dependant on Federal Relief

20 huge dams built to generate hydro electricity
Residents of the area saw their income increase by 200% in the period 1929 to 1949.
