State the offence under s1 firearms act 1968
Creates an offence for any person to posses purchase or acquire any firearm or ammunition to which s1 applies

What will a certificate contain
It will specify exactly what type of firearm and ammo the holder is authorised to posses purchase or acquire
What firearms does s1 apply to
All firearms except shotguns and air weapons ( that are not deemed danger by the Secretary of State)
What ammo does s1 apply to
All ammo except cartridges contained five or more shot none of which exceeds .36 in diameter

Blank fire cartridges not exceeding 1 diameter
What must a applicant satisfy the chief constable before being grant / renewed
They have good reason for posses or acquiring the firearm or ammo
They can be permitted to posses without endangering the public
They have paid the fee
How many photos can an applicant be required to submit
4 one will be attached to the certificate

2 reputable members of the public who have known the applicant for at least two years

What offence is attached to the conditions of a certificate
The holder of a firearms certificate commits an offence if he fails to comply with the conditions mentioned
Define s3
Creates an offence for any person to sell or otherwise transfer any firearm or ammunition to which s1 or 2 applies unless
The recipient produces a certificate authorising the possession
The recipient is a registered firearms dealer thus authorised by the act
The are exempt under the act
What must a supplier fill out on a certificate
Tables 1 and 2 with precise details of the weapons including quantity make serial numbers etc
When must the chief constable be informed of the sale
If the supplier is not a firearms dealer they must inform within 7 days. The purchaser must also inform within 7 days

S1 firearms with rifled barrels
S2 shotguns
Air weapons, whether rifled or not which uses compressed air to discharge missiles
What’s a shotgun
A shotgun is a smooth bore gun, not an air weapon, that is no less than 24 inches in length, with a barrel bore not exceed 2 inches in diameter and a magazine not capable of holding more than 2 cartridges
Not fulfilling this is a s1

Creates an offence for any person to sell such ammo to another person in the UK unless the purchaser is
A certificate holder

Produced the certificate and letter from the certificate holder
