Fire Protection Flashcards
Will we know if there is a break in the fire loop without doing a fire test?
No.
Will we know if there is a short in the fire loop?
Yes, we’d get a LOOP FAIL light.
How can we differentiate between where a fire is based on sounds?
Fire Bell = fuel fed fire (LH/RH engine or APU).
Triple Chime = cargo or lav fire.
Will you always hear audible warnings for a fire?
NO, they are ‘auto inhibited’ during ‘critical phases of flight’.
- 70 knots through 400’ on T/O.
- 300’ down to 70 knots on landing.
What happens when you LIFT the FIRE BUTTON and PUSH on LH/RH Engines or APU?
B-bleed air shuts off. I- Ignition (auto) is inhibited (not APU). G- Generators (AC/DC) relays open. F-Fuel shutoff valve closes. M-Motive Flow valve closes (not APU). S-Squibs are armed.
What would indicate there was smoke in the lavatory?
The smoke detector would generate the following:
- Amber master caution.
- Single chime.
- Amber CAS; “LAV SMOKE”
What does the following mean:
- Red Master Warning
- Triple Chime
- Red ‘LAV FIRE’ on RWP.
You have an empty fire bottle in the lavatory.
How do we know if there is a break in the fire loop?
Upon doing the fire test, we will get a ‘LOOP FAIL’ light illuminated.
