16
Q

The APU fire detection is powered by what?
APU fire extinguishing?
Can the APU fire extinguishing be activated without electrical power ON in the flight deck?

A

Detection: battery bus
Extinguishing: Hot battery bus
Yes

17
Q

Will the APU automatically shut down if a fire is detected? If so, when?

A

Yes, always

18
Q

The APU is a ____ loop system? Single/Dual

A

Single

19
Q

What does the APU DET INOP light indicate?

A

The single loop has failed and APU fire detection is inoperative

20
Q

Where is the remote APU fire control panel?

A

Right main wheel well

21
Q

An APU fire is sensed, what is indicated on the remote APU fire control panel?

A

APU fire warning light flashes

The APU warning horn sounds (on the ground only)

22
Q

What happens if you press the HORN CUTOUT button on the APU remote panel during a fire warning

A

The horn will stop and the fire warning light will become steady

23
Q

Pulling the APU remote fire control handle does what?

A

Arms the APU BOTTLE DISCHARGE switch

Closes the APU fuel shutoff valve

Closes the APU bleed air shutoff valve

Closes the APU inlet door

Trips generator control relay and breaker

24
Q

The flight deck indications of an APU fire are:

A

Both master FIRE WARN
lights illuminate

The fire warning bell sounds

The APU fire switch illuminates and unlocks

25
Q

Pulling the APU FIRE switch does what?

A

Arms the APU fire extinguisher bottle squib

Closes the APU fuel shutoff valve and deactivates the fuel solenoid

Closes the APU bleed air valve

Closes the APU air inlet door

Trips the APU generator control relay and breaker

Allows the APU fire switch to be rotated for discharge

26
Q

The forward cargo compartment has ___ smoke detectors while the aft cargo has ____ smoke detectors

A

Forward - 4
Aft - 6

27
Q

When the cargo fire detector switch is in NORM, how many loops must detect fire to receive and indication?

A

Both loops for the respective cargo compartment

28
Q

When will the DETECTOR FAULT light illuminate on the cargo fire panel?

A

When both loops in either cargo compartment have failed

29
Q

The indications for a successful cargo fire test are:

A

Both Master FIRE WARN lights illuminate

Extinguisher test lights illuminate (verifies squib circuit continuity)

FWD and AFT cargo fire warning lights illuminate

Cargo fire bottle DISCH light illuminates

The DETECTOR FAULT light remains extinguished

The fire warning bell sounds

30
Q

When will the DETECTOR FAULT light illuminate during a fire test?

A

When one or more detectors in a fire loop have failed

31
Q

When will the cargo fire system indicate a fire?

A

When at least one detector in both loops detect smoke

32
Q

What are the flight deck indications of a cargo fire?

A

Both master FIRE WARN lights illuminate

FWD or AFT cargo fire warning light illuminates

Fire warning bell sounds

33
Q

How many cargo fire bottles are installed?

A

One per aircraft… Select 737-700’s have a second bottle installed to meter the discharge at a low rate.

34
Q

When smoke is detected in the lavatory, what happens?

A

The lavatory call light located above the lavatory door and master lavatory call light flash

The passenger address system sounds a chime that cycles on/off

Red alarm indicator light on the lavatory smoke detector panel illuminates

The smoke detector emits an audible horn as long as smoke is detected

35
Q

Describe the lavatory fire extinguisher

A

There is an automatic fire extinguishing bottle in the lavatory under the sink. The extinguisher has two discharge ports that melt at high temperatures and discharge into the lavatory sink compartment. There is no flight deck indication of a discharge.

36
Q

Which wheel wells have fire detection?

A

Mains only.

No nose gear

37

38
Q

How can a WHEEL WELL fire be combated?

A

No fire extinguishing system… Lowering the landing gear increases airflow and cools the wheel well. Light will remain illuminated until temperature has decreased below set level
