Each engine has a loop A & B system, for a fire to be detected both systems must detect the fire heat. Once this has occured it sends a message to the FDU. If one loop becomes INOP, the system will function off of one singular loop.

one bottle is used for APU extinguishing. The APU bottle will automatically discharge on ground.
