At what incidents do Fire Investigation Units get ordered as part of the PDA?
- 4 pump fires and above - 1x FIU
- Persons Reported - 1x FIU
- Firefighter Emergency
- Fatalities at fire - 2x FIU
At what incidents is it good practice to inform FIUs?
- Explosions
* On request of an ambulance from an incident where a fire related injury has occurred to a MOP
When MUST the IC request the attendance of an FIU?
- If the IC cannot determine the cause of a primary fire
- For any serious injury to MOP
- If the IC is unable to determine the cause of secondary fire, this must be discussed with the FIT
- To a possible re-kindling
- If ICs are refused entry to an incident for the purposes of fire investigation.
When must the IC ensure that the form RRF1 is completed and who should it be given to?
Any fire involving:
•serious, life changing injury
•fatality
•any deliberate or suspected deliberate
Top copy given to the Senior Police Officer on scene
When will the Hydro-carbon detector dog attend incidents?
When the scene of the fire needs to be searched for traces of ignitable liquid / container
