Number of engine loops
2 parallel loops through both Nacelles
Power Supply
ESS DC Buses, each loop is swapped for each engine to ensure seperate power sources.
What triggers?
Heat increases the pressure of the gases inside the loops, which signal the responder units.
What indicates a fire?
Associated fuel off handle lights up.
ENGINE FIRE PRESS TO RESET lights up.
CHECK FIRE DET lights up
MASTER WARNING lights up
Which engine is on fire?
The only indication to which engine is which fuel off handle lights up.
Pulling the Fuel Off Handle does?
- Arms fire extinguishers.
- Fuel to that engine is shutoff (fuel valve light indicates closed.
- Hydraulic fluid is shutoff from the engine.
Number of fire bottles?
2
91 lbs of Halon in each under 625 PSI (nitrogen pressure)
Discharge Ports on fire bottles?
2, one for each nacelle. Explosively opened.
Disc Indicators?
Yellow blown = Nacelle Injection
Red blown = Thermal pressure in either bottle exceeded a specific value.
Loop test indications?
Fault A/B for each loop. Detects if gas pressure is low, or if the control unit or responder is defective.
“Check Fire Det” light on
Can switch to disarm defective loop (working loop is selected)
APU Fire Detection?
Fully automatic. Detects fire or overheat.
Only press test button for <5 seconds.
Toilet trigger?
Fully auto, 170F is trigger.
Silence Fire Bell?
Push: ENG FIRE PRESS TO RESET

SMOKE warning light and Master Warning
