Q

Wings

A
  • High aspect ratio, single span, cantilevered.
  • Integral fuel tanks, engine nacelles, main gear mounts, ailerons, flaps, spoilers.
  • Tapered outside the engines with 2.5 degree dihedral.
  • Large chord single slotted flaps.
  • Trims outboard end of trailing edges.
  • Lateral control spoilers behind rear spar augment ailerons for roll control.

9
Q

Empennage

A
  • Integral to the aft fuselage.
  • The rudder is in two sections, fore and trailing. Fore is supported by hinges from rear vert stab spar. Trail is hinged to trailing edge of fore rudder.
  • Trailing rudder deflects twice of the fore rudder.
  • Rudders are hydraulically powered.

Q

Elevator

A
  • In normal ops they move together. But the pitch disconnect system can allow independent control.
  • Each has a spring and trim tab.
  • Horn balance contains the mass balance and anti ice electrics.

Q

Electrical Power

A
  • Primary power is 28 volts DC from 2 engine driven starter generators and 2 transformer rectifier units.
  • 2 x 24 volt NiCad batteries are standard.
  • DC power receptacle on the LHS nose for a GPU
  • 2 eng driven A/C gena provide 115 volt, 3 phase, variable frequency power for certain equipment and the TRUs.
  • AC plug on right engine for GPU.
  • AC supports the DC through TRUs so all systems can be run by AC power.
  • Some equip need fixed AC. Provided by 3 solid state inverters powered by the DC system. 115 volt @ 400 hertz and 26 volt @ 400 hertz.
