○ Self-worth is not contingent on performance, degrees, trophies, possessions, titles, money, behavior, or the judgment of anyone. Worth is intrinsic to you as a human being (personhood) distinguished from all other forms of life

○ Both try to make changes in the client’s belief system

○ Irrational beliefs are the source of people’s disturbances

○ People have a biological tendency towards thinking dysfunctionally and believe life should go their way

○ Irrational beliefs/thinking:
■ Self destructive, avoidance of thought, procrastination, self-blame, endless repetition of mistakes
■ Self downing; hostility and rage; ​(self-criticism)
■ low frustration tolerance
■ Absolute musts and shoulds
■ Awfulizing; I-can’t-stand-its; damnation; all-ness/overgeneralization
■ Self-demanding/other-demanding/world-demanding
