Q

Latissimus dorsi

A
  • Proximal: spinous processes of inferior 6 thoracic T6-T12, thoracolumbar fascia, iliac crest, and inferior 3 ribs
  • Distal: floor of intertubercular sulcus (bicipital groove) of humerus
  • Actions: extends, adducts, and medially rotates humerus, raises torso towards arms during climbing
  • Innervation: thoracodorsal nerve

Q

Trapezius (proximal attachment, distal attachment, actions, innervation)

A
  • Proximal attachment: External occipital protuberance of skull, nuchal ligament, spinous processes of C7-T12
  • Distal: lateral third of clavicle (anterior), acromion, and spine of scapula
  • Actions: elevates, depresses, and retracts scapula, rotates gleniod fossa superiorly
  • Innervation: Motor-accessory nerve

Q

Levator scapulae

A
  • PA: posterior tubercles of transverse processes of first 4 cervical vertebrae
  • DA: medial border of scapula, superior part of scapular spine
  • Actions: elevates scapula and tilts glenoid fossa inferiorly by rotating scapula (downward rotation)
  • Innervations: dorsal scapular nerve and ventral rami of cervical spinal nerves
