FINAL-Blood Coagulation Flashcards
Transfusion ratio (PRBC to FFP)
1:1 or 1:2
Effects of bank blood-potentially harmful
Increased potassium
Hemolysis
How much does Hgb change with each unit of blood given
1 unit PRBC = Hgb increase by 1 g/dL
X-Linked recessive blood disorder. Undergoing surgery. What can you give them?
Factor VIII
Factor VII
Desmopressin
Universal FFP donor
AB+
Patient in the ICU in DIC. What administer before surgery?
FFP
Platelets
Cryo
vWF disease treatment
Type 1: Desmopressin
Type 2: vWF concentrate
Type 3: vWF concentrate
Tranexamic acid = adjunctive therapy
Cryo = can be used
Blood vessel injured. What happens at vessel, what’s being released?
TF
Thromboxane A2, ADP, Serotonin (vasoconstrictors)
2 things that can happen post transfusion. Leading cause of death?
TRALI (Onset within 6 hrs following transfusion)
TACO (Onset 6-12 hours after transfusion- LEADING CAUSE OF TRANSFUSION RELATED DEATH)
TRALI treatment
Supportive/use lung protective strategies
-Maximize PEEP
-Low tidal volume
-Avoid over hydration
-No left atrial hypertension or volume overload (TACO)
