- p 270. TAB ORDER. Even if you DON’T have a FIELD ORDERING PROBLEM, you may still want to customize the TAB ORDER because:
you CAN TAB TO BUTTONS if you want.
- Why would you want to TAB to a button?
You may have an often used button, especially one that is clicked after performing some data entry, like a NEXT button, or an NEW RECORD button.
- When you TAB to a BUTTON, FM draws a DRAMATIC BLACK BORDER around it. To activate it:
you simply press the SPACE BAR to trigger its action.
- What is the NATURAL tab order used by FM?
LEFT to RIGHT, TOP to BOTTOM
- When you choose
LAYOUTS–>
SET TAB ORDER,
you get a SET TAB ORDER dialog box. What does it do?
It lets you make a few TARGETED BULK CHANGES to the TAB ORDER.

SET TAB ORDER:
CLEAR ALL:
It clears ALL the numbers from EVERY ARROW. You then CLICK EACH ARROW in the order you want and FM enters the numbers for you.
- LAYOUT–>
SET TAB ORDER:
REMOVE ALL FIELDS OR ALL BUTTONS:
Lets you choose whether to remove ONLY the fields or ONLY the buttons.
- When would you use the ADD REMAINING pop up menu?
Should you want to set up a specific tab order for a few buttons first, and then use the automatic ordering for all fields thereafter.
- What are ALL THE OPTIONS in the SET TAB ORDER dialog box?
ADD REMAINING:
a. Objects
b. Fields Only
c. Buttons Only
REMOVE:
a. All Fields
b. All Buttons
