BUTTON ACTION LIST;
INSERT TEXT.
What does it do?
it lets you stick predetermined TEXT into a field. If you check GO TO TARGET FIELD (in OPTIONS side), it goes to a predetermined field.
If not, it goes to the field the user is currently in.

INSERT TEXT:
SELECT ENTIRE CONTENTS (Options side):
Select this checkbox if you want the inserted text to REPLACE whatever is in the field.
3. BUTTON SETUP dialog box; BUTTON ACTION--> INSERT TEXT: OPTIONS--> GO TO TARGET FIELD: top SPECIFY button: lets you choose a field to go insert text. What is the bottom SPECIFY button for?
It tells FileMaker WHAT text to INSERT.
- Several BUTTON ACTION choices under FIELDS mimic the choices in the INSERT MENU. What are they?

- For each of the options that MIMIC the choices in the INSERT MENU, you can choose:
the field to use and whether or not to select everything on the field before selecting.
6. BUTTON SETUP dialog box; BUTTON actions; FIELDS: REPLACE FIELD CONTENTS: What does this do?
It runs the
RECORDS–>
REPLACE FIELD CONTENTS command.
7. BUTTON SET UP dialog box: BUTTON actions: FIELDS: REPLACE FIELD CONTENTS (Options area) SPECIFY TARGET FIELD:
What does this do?
it lets you pick the field to replace into if you want, and by choosing the bottom SPECIFY button, you can also predetermine what goes in the REPLACE FIELD CONTENTS dialog box.
- Why choose the PERFORM WITHOUT DIALOG option in the REPLACE FIELD CONTENTS button action?
this way users never see the dialog box, the REPLACE just happens. You could use this option to ADD A FLAG BUTTON to your layout that would automatically flag every record in the FOUND SET by PUTTING A “Y” in the same field on each of those records.
