Filemaker Pro 9 (37) Flashcards
- p 267. BUTTONS: WINDOW actions. Why use the NEW WINDOW action?
It CREATES A NEW WINDOW, but it always shows the layout you’re ALREADY ON, so its use is limited and used mostly for scripts.
- Explain the SELECT WINDOW action:
It lets you switch to a different window if you know its name: click SPECIFY, choose WINDOW NAME, and type in the name of the window.
- Explain the CLOSE WINDOW action:
It simply closes the ACTIVE WINDOW, though you can also supply the name of ANOTHER window and it will close that window instead.
- Explain the SCROLL WINDOW action:
It gives you options to go to the TOP, BOTTOM, or MOVE UP or DOWN ONE PAGE at a time.
- You can SCROLL a window while you are in a FIELD, so that the FIELD YOU ARE IN may NO LONGER BE VISIBLE. How do you fix this?
SCROLL WINDOW action–> TO SELECTION option: tells FM to scroll the window so that the field you’re in is visible.
- Explain SHOW/HIDE STATUS AREA action:
Lets you show or hide the STATUS AREA, and you can choose TOGGLE to switch the setting with each click.
- What is the LOCK checkbox in the SHOW/HIDE STATUS AREA action?
It makes the STATUS AREA control INACTIVE when the button is clicked, so nobody can show or hide the status area without the buttons.
- Explain the ADJUST WINDOW action:
Lets you MINIMIZE, MAXIMIZE, RESIZE TO FIT, RESTORE (to its last size), or HIDE THE FRONTMOST WINDOW.
- Explain the VIEW AS action:
It lets you VIEW AS FORM, VIEW AS LIST, and VIEW AS TABLE. Choose CYCLE to cycle through all three views.
- Why would anyone make and click a button to lock the STATUS AREA and the ZOOM CONTROLS?
These options are USUALLY PART OF A SCRIPT.
