Filemaker Pro 9 28 Flashcards
- What is a CHECKBOX SET?
FileMaker adds one checkbox for EACH ITEM on the VL, and lets you pick as many values as you want. FM then arranges your choices to fill the boundaries of your field.
- Because CHECKBOX SETS need to put several lines on the field, they’re really only suitable for?
TEXT FIELDS. Other field types don’t support MULTILINE VALUES.
- What’s the usefulness of a CHECKBOX SET?
It is handy when the things you’re tracking have files like AVAILABLE SIZES, AVAILABLE COLORS, WAREHOUSES, or any other attribute of the ONE OR MORE VARIETY.
- How can a single field hold more than one value, as it can with a CHECKBOX SET?
From a Value LIst with COLORS, if you choose RED, GREEN, and BLUE, FM thinks of the field like this:
RED
GREEN
BLUE
- What is a RADIO BUTTON SET?
It is much like a CHECKBOX SET, but you CAN ONLY CHOOSE ONE VALUE (unless you Shift Click, BUT you should NOT DO THAT).
- Which fields, other than CHECKBOX SETS, allow for MULTIPLE SELECTIONS?
Pop Up Menus
Radio Buttons.
- How do you keep users from choosing multiple selections in POP UP MENUS and RADIO BUTTON SETS?
by using a CALCULATION. Turn on the CALCULATED VALUE and enter
LeftValues ( Self; 1)
This KEEPS ONLY THE FIRST VALUE IN THE FIELD.
